There is a certain pressure when SF6 gas is filled into the high-voltage switch cabinet, so the probability of leakage is generally high; and the oxygen content in the air is sufficient, so the conditions are sufficient for sulfur hexafluoride to leak and combine with oxygen to produce toxic gas; after a person inhales 80% SF6 + 20% O2 mixed gas for a few minutes, he will experience numbness of the limbs and a state of mild excitement.
The quantitative detection of trace SF6 gas in the air is relatively difficult. The methods widely used abroad include: radioactive electron capture detector method, high-voltage discharge ionization method, thermal conductivity method, ultrasonic method, infrared absorption method, laser emission (expensive), etc.
